Just when you thought that Richmond Beach had it all, our neighborhood keeps getting better and better. This summer, Joe Montero (Shoreline native) is bringing a bit of nightlife to our community with his new beer bar and cocktail place–Vault 177 (former Gino’s Pizza).
The bar will feature over 30 beers on tap, mostly from the Washington region, with some unique national and international options. “I wanted to create a place where friends and family can get together and enjoy themselves,” says Joe. His vision of creating a brewery-like atmosphere in an industrial setting–and a new local destination–is slowly coming to fruition.
The restaurant–due to open its doors on July 1–will offer tasty comfort food (read: burgers, chicken wings, and lots of cheese!), in addition to great wines, non-alcoholic beverages, as well as a kids-friendly menu. What’s more, it will provide its guests with a rare treat in the area: outdoor seating–so that you can enjoy a good cocktail (or mocktail) while watching our amazing sunsets this summer!
Montero’s inspiration for his public house came from the game “Fallout.” The main character of Fallout is a resident of a Vault, part of a network of long-term nuclear shelters, who is forced to venture out to find a replacement water chip and save their fellow Vault inhabitants. 177 refers to Richmond Beach’s zip code (98177).
The owner’s long-term goal is also to modernize the beloved Spin Alley Bowling Center. “There are only a handful of bowling alleys left in the Seattle area,” says Joe, “and they offer great, family friendly indoor entertainment, especially in the winter.” So far, many updates have been made to the alley’s scoring software and machines, with more improvements scheduled to take place over the coming years.
Please be sure to follow Vault 177’s Facebook page (@Vault 177) and visit their website (www.vault177.com) for a sneak peak of the menu and for further announcements about the grand opening on July 1, 2020!
